Acoustic and videoendoscopic effects of temporary vocal fold augmentation in an office-based setting: a quasi-experimental study

Abstract Background Vocal-fold augmentation is a continuously developing treatment modality for glottic insufficiency. Patients with insufficiency attend the phoniatrics clinics increasing frequency. Glottic may be due to vocal-fold paralysis, paresis, atrophy, sulcus vocalis, scarring, and deficiency after laryngeal surgery. A variety of materials exist injection augmentation. This follow-up study aimed assess short-term as well long-term outcomes calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) in patients gap 1–3 mm. Method included 25 who underwent CaHA. All were scheduled voice evaluation using comprehensive subjective objective battery assessments. Assessments performed before procedure at 2 months 1 year. Results Perceptual quality assessed GRBAS scale improved results stable Shimmer HNR through sessions, while jitter f0 showed slight improvement CaHA injection. Conclusion Voice requires minimum develop last long period.
